Flambeau Bike Tour
The Logging Roads and Paved Roads of the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest
Tour and Mountain Biking
If you’re looking to really get away from it all, there is no better place in all of Wisconsin than the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest east of Park Falls in Price County. Taking up nearly the whole northeast quadrant of the county, it is a vast piece of wilderness. The miles of paved and gravel forest roads are excellent places to bike—it is not unusual to spend a whole afternoon riding along a forest road and never see a motorized vehicle. There are campgrounds, resorts and historic sites within the forest. A great way to see and enjoy all these things is to take the Flambeau Bike Tour that makes a wonderful loop through the forest. For the mountain biker who wants to explore a little deeper into the forest, an awesome adventure is to be found on the hundreds of miles of primitive logging roads in the forest that lead to some of the best scenery in all of Wisconsin. Pristine lakes, trout streams and beaver ponds abound in this part of the Chequamegon as well as some hidden stands of giant white pine. And best of all, you’ll feel like you have it all to yourself.
