The Wintergreen Lake Trail is located near Wintergreen Lake about 6 miles east of Fifield on Highway 70 in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. In the winter, this is a very popular cross-country ski trail system. It is a fairly easy ride for the mountain biker and provides some wonderful scenery as it passes through a diverse forest of pine, aspen, birch, balsam fir and northern hardwoods. You'll find loops ranging from 1 mile to 5 miles. A national forest parking fee is required. The daily fee can be paid at the trailhead. An annual sticker can be purchased at the Forest Service office on Highway 13 in Park Falls on weekdays. This trail is closed annually from March 15 to May 1 during the spring thaw. Use of the trail during this time will cause damage to the trail surface.
