Vilas County is truly a land of lakes-in fact, there may be no other place on earth with as many lakes in such a small area. This abundance of water combined with beautiful forests makes Vilas County one of the most breathtaking places to bike. There are a number of paved trails and many miles of road available to touring bicyclists. Mountain bikers will appreciate the variety of excellent trails interspersed throughout the county.

Vilas County, with its many lakes, is famous for its hundreds of lakeside resorts and rental cabins. You'll also find a wide array of motels and both public and private campgrounds. See historical exhibits, including the world’s first snowmobile. Located in Sayner on Highway 155.
Wildwood Wildlife Park and Nature Center
See deer, black bear, and wolves as well as exotic animals from around the world. Great for kids. Located off Highway 70 just west of Minocqua.
George W. Brown, Jr. Ojibwe Museum & Cultural Center
Learn about the area’s native Ojibwe people and their history. See exhibits focusing on Ojibwe arts, crafts and culture. 603 Peace Pipe Road in downtown Lac Du Flambeau.
John Dillinger Shoot-out Exhibit at Little Bohemia
View memorabilia & damage from the 1934 shoot-out. Open late-April through December, 4 p.m. daily except Wednesdays. Located on Highway 51 South, 2 miles south of County Highway W, Manitowish Waters.
North Lakeland Discovery Center
A community-based environmental education center dedicated to exploring, preserving and enhancing the area’s natural, cultural and historic resources. The Center is an official site of the Great Wisconsin Birding & Nature Trail. Located 1.2 miles east of Highway 51 on County Highway W, Manitowish Waters.
Powell Marsh Wildlife Refuge
Powell Marsh Wildlife Refuge is an official site of the Great Wisconsin Birding & Nature Trail. Spectacular bird & wildlife viewing in this 4,300 acre wildlife area. Note: No-entry period from Sept. 1-Dec. 30 on the 1,800 acre wildlife refuge. Vista Lookout. Take Hwy 47 north from Lac du Flambeau approximately 9 miles to Powell Road.
